Skill (point) missions are marked on the map with a blue exclamation point. They are necessary in order to unlock all skill trees.
Some of the missions have follow-up "Assignment" missions - these reward 1 Skill point (only) when first completed, and are repeatable with increasing requirements for standard rewards. While Assignment missions are not strictly necessary, as the skill points can be acquired elsewhere throughout the course of the game (See Skills), they do serve as a tutorial for all game mechanics. Once the skill points they grant are gained, they can be cancelled at will. Assignment missions are not designed to be actively completed. Rather, as the player does any activity, they will slowly be accomplished over time.
