Crew Skills are the passive bonuses that hired crew members contribute to your ship. Every crew member is generated with a fixed set of skills drawn from their profession, and those skills switch on as the crew member gains levels — each unlocked skill adds one rank to the matching node in your captain's skill trees.
How crew skills work
- Profession pool. A crew member only rolls skills flagged for their profession — Mining, Salvaging, Combat, Engineering or Industrial. A single skill can belong to more than one profession.
- Skill slots by rarity. Higher rarity grants more skill slots:

Slot counts are fixed by rarity, but the current build only defines crew skills up to tier 6 — the tier 7–8 minor slots and the tier 9 major slot on High-Grade+ crew have no skills to fill yet.
- Minor vs. major. Tiers 1–2, 4–5 and 7–8 roll minor skills — multi-rank passives that stack. Tiers 3, 6 and 9 roll a single major skill — usually a one-rank ability or a powerful threshold effect.
- Level gates. A skill unlocks once the crew member reaches its required level: tier 1 from level 1, then +5 levels per tier (tier 2 at 5, tier 3 at 10, tier 4 at 15, tier 5 at 20, tier 6 at 25, and so on).
- Stacking onto your trees. Each unlocked crew skill adds +1 rank to that node in your own skill trees, on top of any points you invested. Several crew members carrying the same skill stack their ranks together, and a skill can be active from crew alone even if you never spent a point in it.
