Umbral Hacking tool available at an Umbral Shop.

Umbral Missions are once-per day repeatable missions, granted at conquest stations within Ara Martis subsector, provided they have been infected by Umbral Reach software.

Infecting a station

Example of a station infection moment

As part of the main story within Conquest, player is required to infect stations using Umbral Hacking Tool. The first one player receives is a special variant, deployable without fail on any friendly Conquest station within Ara Martis. Trying to deploy it at a non-conquest station, on an enemy station, or outside Ara Martis will fail.

Starting station will be fully infected and will produce both the first Umbral Mission on the mission board, and the Umbral Shop, which will provide more Hacking Tools.

From that point onward, player can either let the infection slowly spread across warp lanes by itself, or take the hacking tools to any station adjacent to one already infected (over 20%).

Getting any station to 50% infection (via the missions or naturally) will produce the Umbral Shop which functions identically to one at any faction Headquarters station.

At 100% infection the station will slowly infect adjacent stations connected via gate lanes.

Umbral Missions

Umbral missions can be found behing the Umbral logo on the Mission Board. Click the logo to open up the hidden mission window.

Umbral missions serve to both boost the infection rate, typically by 35%-45% per mission, and to reward the player with a relatively large sum of both Credits and Mars Commendations, which can be used in Umbral and HQ Shops to purchase premium items, and to buy size-5+ ships.
