UI Overview while traveling

The UI of Vanguard galaxy is very simple:

  • Bottom right is the main Action Interface.
  • Bottom shows available weapons/tools and their controls.
  • Bottom left is ship status, active abilities and effects, if any.
  • Top Left is currently active quest, and optionally location.
  • Top is travel status (if any).

The action interface can be retracted, but will extend automatically once ship docks to a station.

Station interface depends on station modules/services provided and can vary greatly across different stations. Player performs actions either through Action Interface alone, or more commonly through an interaction between station and action interface (eg. Selling ores from ship cargo to station shop. Assigning crew from Crew Roster to Personal Hangar of current ship.)

Action Interface

Action Interface

Captain: Overview of your Captain, Stats and Skill Points, Reputation statuses.

Inventory (I): Opens the Cargo Bay of your ship. Note: Armory and Materials Storage are only accessible when docked at a station.

Missions: Shows currently accepted Missions and their status.

Map (M): Overview of the Sector / Subsector / System the ship is currently in. Can be zoomed with "1", "2" and "3" key-presses.

Ship:

  • Equipment: An overview of installed modules, boosters, crew, hardpoints, and optionally drones (with the ability to alter the drone layout).
  • Information: Shows the current ship stats.
  • Autopilot: Access the ECHO settings. See ECHO for more details.
  • ECHO Stats: Idle sessions are be saved if the Session was longer than 5 minutes, here is the recap of progress done.

Crew: Here you can check your hired crew members and see their Level and Skills. Crew members level by doing any tasks which grant XP to the player's Captain - but they have to be active and assigned to the ship performing those tasks.

Settings: Self-explanatory.

Autopilot: Ability to turn ECHO on and off. Additionally, if ECHO is enabled, calculation cycle will show along with the presently performed taks. Each new order ECHO performs requires a new calculation cycle, which can be sped up using skills.

Weapon Range

Item Range: Different Weapons and Industrial Tools (mining/salvage) have different ranges. By pressing the C beside listed weapons at the bottom of the screen, one can view red circles that indicate the range.
