Forge Overview

Forge is a station service which allows the player to use refined materials smelted in the Refinery in order to craft consumables, modules, weapons, boosters and quest-specific gear.

Refineries and Forges are linked - any station with a Forge will also have a Refinery. Nominally, Steel Vultures, Mindus Holdings and Forge Industries have both refineries and forges.

Exception: Conquest stations in Ara Martis never have refineries nor forges, not even when belonging to one of these three factions. However, Forge Industries do not participate in Conquest (and have no conquest stations), and the other two have non-conquest stations spread through the subsector.

The Industry Skill tree deals with refining and crafting, speeding the time required for any action, and allowing for many additional crafting queues.

Forge Overview

Forge UI Overview:

The Forge UI lists all available recipes to the left, and after clicking on one of them, it is possible to set the rarity (not all items have a rarity selection toggle), see the required materials (which can be stored either in Cargo or Materials bay, or combined), view the time required and crafting cost.

Blueprints

Starter Recipes

The cornerstone of crafting are Blueprints. Starting Industry skill Starter Recipes will kickstart the player's crafting efforts, but any additional Blueprints need to be bought, fought over, salvaged, or discovered in Locked Containers.

Blueprints have levels that unlock the crafting recipe at that level. Don't worry, once you find a level 50 blueprint, you can't find lower-level blueprints of the same type.

Blueprints:

Each blueprint is valid for a single rarity of an item - in order to collect White, Green, Blue and Purple variants of an item, one needs to find 4 different recipes.

Note: Currently no orange/legendary recipes exist.

Rarity Selection

Setting the rarity of an item changes the required materials. Crafting Purple(Exotic) modules usually involves special crystals gained from Mining.

Otherwise, setting a different rarity may change the item name entirely. Plasma and Ion warp fuels are two variants of the same item, at different rarities.

Item Level

The resulting item level depends on the player level. A level 30 captain will craft a level 30 module, regardless if the station itself is level 10 or 60. However, Industrial skills Forge Overdrive and Forge Overdrive II will raise the resulting level by +6 and +4 respectively, up to a maximum of +10 for items up ro rare (blue) rarity.

Forge Overdrive skills:

Using these skills will also increase the required materials amounts as higher -evel items require more constituent inputs, but ist i extremely important to produce a much more powerful variant of the item.

Forge Result Overview

Example of a resulting item

While generally useful to confirm an item is in the right ballpark regarding rarity and level, the resulting item preview is nothing alike the final product regarding substats, aspects and even general power. All of these are randomly generated when crafting finishes.
