β 0.8.1.9
The Personnel Center is a station facility where you recruit and manage your Crew — both rank-and-file crew members and named officers.
It is the home base for building out the people who serve aboard your ships. The Personnel Center is found on most stations, regardless of faction.
See Leadership for info on the skill tree that commands your crew and officers.
Crew
The Crew tab sells generic crew members by type. Buy crew into your reserve or directly onto a ship; sell unwanted crew back for 25% of their cost.
- The available pool is generated per station and refreshes hourly.
- Which crew types a station stocks depends on its controlling faction; Mindus stations will have miners, Steel Vultures will have salvagers and so on.
- Larger, higher-level stations offer a much deeper pool.
See Crew full breakdown of crew types, along crew bonuses and uses.
Officers
The Officers tab offers a small selection of named officers for hire.
- Typically 2-4 officers are available at a time.
- The selection refreshes every couple of hours.
- Officer level and rarity/quality scale with the station's level, higher-tier stations offer stronger officers.
- The professions on offer are heavily biased toward the station faction's specialty - Look for miners at Mindus stations, combat officers at Canisec or Orsanon, etc.
See Officer Skills for officers various abilities.
Training
Important: Training of officers can only be done at Omnitac Agency's Personnel Centers.
The Training service upgrades an officer's quality. Rather than costing credits or time, training consumes a single implant item:
- Neural Patch: White to Green - lvl20+ Omnitac Agency shops normally have 1-2
- Synaptic Implant: Green to Blue - Omnitac Agency Embassy (Conquest), random loot
- Cortex Augment: Blue to Purple - lvl55+ installations/bases/facilities - only available as random loot
- Neuro Core: Purple to Gold - unavailable in the game.
Each implant raises an officer one rarity tier, and training is the only way to reach Exotic level for officers not starting as such.
